KARAMELIEN is a new music project set up by Léanie Kaleido, accomplished UK-based singer-songwriter with three albums under her belt so far.
Reunited with longstanding music mate, guitarist Mark Foster, the two are working on Léanie’s new material with a new vigour and a greater focus on low-tempo hip hop inspired beats and bluesy basslines.
The first single is Ascension Heights, released July 29th 2022, which features a sample off the track of the same name by Léanie’s father Top Topham, original lead guitarist with The Yardbirds. He founded the group with drummer Jim McCarty, but when parental pressure forced him to leave just as they were finding success, college acquaintance Eric Clapton took over the reins, later succeeded by Jeff Beck and then Jimmy Page. Top re-joined The Yardbirds for part of their 50th anniversary tour, but has latterly retired from music due to ill health.
